Nargiza Turayeva, a doctoral student of our Institute, undertook a research visit to the city of Turkistan, Republic of Kazakhstan, as part of her scientific research activities. During the research, the doctoral student examined and scientifically studied historical documents, rare exhibits, and photographic negatives preserved in the collections of the “Museum of Political Repressions” and the “Azret Sultan” State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. The research materials were analyzed within the framework of the doctoral dissertation entitled “Issues of Classification of the Collection of Photographic Negatives at the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan (Second Half of the 19th – 20th Century)” and enriched with comparative historical data. During the visit, meetings were held with Kazakhstani specialists in museology and art history, providing an opportunity to exchange experience in the study and research of museum collections. This international research visit is of significant importance for the study of unique photographic sources, their introduction into academic circulation, and a deeper exploration of the shared historical and cultural heritage of the two countries.
